The “Let’s authenticate the world” project started unofficially while Yanna-Torry was working at Cakemail. Many customers were migrating towards Cakemail or having diverse deliverability issues created mainly by misconceptions and lack of knowledge. Email is far more complex than designing an email, writing excellent content, uploading a list, and clicking on send.
“If you don’t know about authentication, you won’t Google it to understand how it works or how to implement it.“
Frustrated by repeating information she believed everyone should be aware of, she decided to start communicating with brands she loved and helping them authenticate their email in her free time. As the propagation of the changes takes 10-30 minutes, she would introduce them to the world of email. She met exciting people, learned about their business, and spread her knowledge & passion for email.
When people understood:
And so much more;
They were able to make better decisions and make their email program succeed like never before. She has reached the point where she cannot handle the requests all on her own promptly and is seeking other email geeks to join the cause and help spread information about how email actually works.
“Knowledge is power. Connect with an #emailGeek and get your email game on.”
Email for businesses or brands is way more complex than open and click rates. As email geeks we know the importance of checking bounce types of email reports. We know that "!!!!!!!" in a subject line isn't going to make an email go directly to spam.
We are also aware of the importance of authentication and its value, not only for businesses or brands, but for the security of inboxes around the world. This project started to introduce people to the wonderful world of email and educate them about the importance of best practices.
"It isn’t because an email is delivered that your subscriber will see it in their inbox."
A delivered email is an email that doesn’t bounce, meaning the receiving servers of your subscriber’s inbox accepted the email.
Deliverability is what people should care about the most as it indicates if your subscriber’s received the email IN their inbox. Deliverability takes into account your authentication, reputation, engagement, past history, and a million other factors, just like a credit score looks at much more than just your payment history and salary.
Plainly put, Authentication is key to email deliverability and helps you protect your audience and domains from phishing and spoofing attacks.
Authentication provides verifiable information about the origin of the email message by validating the ownership of any MTAs who participated in transferring the email.
If you don’t fly from point A to B without ID, why would you send an email without proper identification?
